Time-Lapse, Stop Motions or Video....

So pretty soon I'm gonna start working on a major painting project for this year's local art competition. I'm hopefully looking at two 30"x40" mixed media paintings with a similar theme as my first entry last year. Since I love flowers and I'm fairly good at drawing/painting them, I'm just going to stick with that.

In the process of thinking up how these paintings should look and where should I start, I saw some awesome videos that documented the Creative Process of a final piece. I found these videos on Abduzeedo and thought that I should try making one.

Tony Riff from itdrewitself on Vimeo.

I really love how the one above was composed. I've always been planning to test out how creative I can be with video and this video sparked up some motivation. On the same list, there where Creative Process videos shot in time-lapse. This style showed the process point by point, and is just a lot of fun to watch.

TEDxBrooklyn by SARA BLAKE of the KDU from Cinecycle on Vimeo.

Time-Lapse reminds me of the first time I've seen them in action through Gizmodo. I was browsing through some photography works on Deviantart when I stumbled on Tilt-Shift photography. After researching it online, Gizmodo had a small list of tilt-shift time-lapse videos. They look soo awesome and you'd actually wonder if this was a model or a the real world cause everything is all miniature.

Bathtub III from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.

Recently, a bunch of the local photographers I know has/have been doing time-lapse videos and last night J.K. taught me how. I'm not planning on posting mine up though lol, all my settings weren't right and the video so far looks crappy XD. So it might just go into my scrap pile. I would love to feature their videos though, including J.K.'s =D They look pretty tight, and is sure fun to watch!

Garapan Time-lapse from John Kyle on Vimeo.

Triple Double. from silent.gear on Vimeo.

Crater Lake In Time from Jerry Lin on Vimeo.

One Long Sunset from Karen Tenorio Cabrera on Vimeo.

After watching J.K.'s video, I saw one of his fans suggest stop motion, which I still remember from back then. It was how a lot of the old cartoons were created. Frame by frame, centimeters to centimeters, it was a process I highly respected. I tried it once, where you draw a figure and capture it then play it as a whole. It was hella cool, but I lost that copy when my old computer crashed =/

Below are a few examples I found and adore. The light painting one is my favorite =D

A SHORT LOVE STORY IN STOP MOTION from Carlos Lascano on Vimeo.

Origami In the Pursuit of Perfection from MABONA ORIGAMI on Vimeo.

There's soo many different ways for me to document my creative process, and at first it was hard to choose, but now that I've created this whole list, I believe I know what I'm going to go for. I'm gonna try to have all the techniques in one. ^-^ Hopefully it all comes together swell.

Stay Creative!!

A 2011 Wishlist ;D

"Twinkle Twinkle Lil Star".....
Ahh yes, counting down to the days till the end of 2010. I've had all I wanted for Christmas this year and what a better way to plan out the upcoming year with a newly defined wish list =D.
Always keep in mind that time will change your plans no matter what, so with the time given do as much as you can as possible ^-^. Instead of a wish list of lil materialistic things that won't do much good in the future, I decided to create a list where I know will benefit my future.

They may cost holes in them wallets, but I know they'll help me me in the end where it all pays off ^-^

1. -ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE 5 MASTER COLLECTION
[OR CS6 MASTER IF EVER THEY UPGRADE LOL]
-ADOBE PHOTOSHOP LIGHT ROOM 3 [4]
AND OR APPLE APERTURE 3 [4]
The infamous Adobe Creative Suite Master Collections has always been on every wish list I've ever had since the first days of me fiddling with Photoshop. The best software for the position I'm trying to master in, The Creative Suite Master Collection bundles every Adobe Creative software into 1. Then there is Lightroom and Aperture, to help me master my photography =].

2. -APPLE 17" MackBOOK PRO
-APPLE 27" CINEMA LED DISPLAY
-WACOM 21" CINTIQ 21UX INTERACTIVE PEN DISPLAY
My future dream workstation XD. Yes, yes. A 27" Cinema Led Display for a more "in-my-face" approach of editing and finishing projects, a 17" MacBook Pro for projects on the go and a 21" Cintiq tablet for a more focused and accurate approach into my graphic design work flow.

3. -CANON PIXMA PRO9500 MARK II PROFESSIONAL PHOTO INKJET PRINTER
-CANON PIXMA IX7000 CORPORATE & GRAPHIC ART PRINTER
If ever I stick to it and get better at it, I'd love to be able to personally provide customers with prints from my own home office. What's the best printers to do just the job? The Canon Pixma PRO9500 and the Pixma IX7000. Quality matters when it comes to capturing memories =].

4. -NIKON SB-700 SPEEDLIGHT
-NIKKOR 28-300mm F1:35-5.6 ZOOM LENS
-NIKKO 35mm F1:1.8 PRIME LENS
There is always going to be that true saying that when it comes to photography, its the lens and the lighting that matters the most. Clarity, speed, focus and light, the best they are the better you'll achieve what you're looking for. So hopefully in the future I'll be able to upgrade and add onto my current list of equipment to further my photography work. Still though, on top of all of that, it's the person behind the camera that tops it all off.

5. - SAVANNAH COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN
(BA IN GRAPHIC DESIGN)
-ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSTIY
(MA IN VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS)
Since the day I graduated high school, one of my only goals was to get into an art school of my dreams. since I'm headed to 2 different locations by 2011 I'm hoping that I can finally have one of these dreams to come true. If I land long enough in Georgia, I'd love to enroll in SCAD to pursue a bachelors in graphic design and by the time I fly to California I'm hoping to pursue a masters in visual communications from AAU so that wishfully in the end I land my dream job =D....... Art/Creative Director ^-^

6. -ACURA 2006 RSX
-BBS I AI OR KONIG AIRSTRIKE RIMS
Ahhh! Lol, another dream of mine right here and I'm willing to make it happen fo'real. I been into import long enough to get me wanting to have my own ride I can customize. This right here is what I'm praying for to be my new baby when I fly out =p. The Acura RSX has been one sexy ass ride I been eying, and budget wise, I can afford. The mods for this baby are sic and I can't wait to get my hands on one to start a build project XD. Then you know, she gotta roll like me, with some new shows. The all new BBS I AI or them Konig Airstrike seems just right for her first pairs ^-^

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 2011 here I come hehehe, but before all this, I gotta get my money straight. Get myself enough dow to cop me a plane ticket to GA where I'll be getting ready to start off a new life ^-^

Hope to see yah'll there!!

PEACE, LOVE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Because Myreikko Is Created of 2xMany

I used to blog about my thoughts, I used to be very literal. In advance I apologize for bad grammar, typos and short-cuts though by now you should have already noticed that even in text I speak with an urban accent =p. So with that said, I'd love to go back to being a little literic (yeh so wat, made it up hehehe) which u'll see throughout the existence of my blog.

Myre-ikko
I'm on a current state of ups and downs and all arounds, but at least it's not as bad as it used to be. Maybe it's cause the days are caving in and I'm secretly going insane with the thought of reaching a change. Waiting any longer than the end of next year is all I'm able to handle, anymore will drive me to making a reckless decision.

Many people always questions life and it's purpose with them. The simple things almost don't matter. Really, life is to live, breathe, eat, drink, sleep, wake, walk, run, survive. But to us, being human, life is to impress, change, think, decide, believe, regret, inspire, succeed, fail...learn. Though did you notice that there would be days you forget to breathe. Everyone goes through it, but not everyone would share. It could be fear in the favor, but truth is that sometimes it's better to hide certain things from the world than to express it.

I've been on a certain path that I've once was in. I don't even know how I got back here -.- Back to questioning, worrying, wondering.... I'm back to being unsure. I hate being here, it's something I can't really handle, but I have noticed I've been handling it a lil better.

Friends would ask me how I got this mindset. Having to deal easily with things that could drive them into insanity. I really don't know, I guess you have to psych yourself out to get there? It's either that or I just try my best to be standing in the middle of the seesaw.

I'd say I'm content most of the time, but really I'm done.

I'm so ready to move on, to grow and spread my wings. I'm ready to see my dreams come true, to live in the places I wish to, to own the things I desire.

Reality you can't just say it'll be that way, if you want it to, you gotta work it out make sure u continue making that path. Let others lead you, you'll just end up where they want to be.

I'm done with making decisions based on other people. I'm done helping them succeed while I'm sitting in the back-seat. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I've just been doing this same old shet for way too long. I've only found a few who returns the favor :( Why can't I find more...

To add on to the stress, who I wish to be takes alot of hard-work. Some people are born with it, some people easily masters it, some people though like I has to work hard to reach it. It's a matter of reminding yourself. Every artist will never be completely proud of where they are. An artist should never be the same as another. An artist should not do it for the fame or glory but for the love of creation. But of course.... you would question those facts if you choose art as a living.

I need to remind myself to compare my work with others for the only reason of progression. I need to make what pulls me down, a push towards being better. I need to just get back in the game with a 100% effort and stop with this lazyness. A lil extra effort really does help, and I need to do this. I can't afford falling behind.

I guess I can easily say that being made up of more then one personality is a curse and a blessing. I'm both a very positive and a very negative person. I'm content but worry-full. I can lead and I can follow. I can create or just sit back and watch. But I choose to keep the balance. I rather be positive while weighing in the negatives, I rather be content and remember the things that can stop my worries, I rather lead then follow and I definitely rather create.

I'm happy to be multicreative, I rather be all then just one.
I rather be a "PhotoGraphic Artist" then just either one =].

I'm here to be an Art Director,
that is what I need to remember ^-^

Much love,
Nix

Seriously Man!!

So I'm pretty heated today, just came back from 7 hours of trynuh do a simple errand. 7 freaken hours for something that should only take 2.

Iight so like I needa get my passport renewed and shet before it expires so setted on a date to take a day leave off work. Woke up early, got ready, took a picture, grabbed some breakfast then headed up to Capital Hill. Now everyone down here on the island knows how far that place is...

Anyways, this trip was planned clean. Called the passport office down here to see if they still open since recently the whole CNMI Government shut down. They said yeh, gave us business hours and said they'll be open till THURSDAY. So we went up there and it was 10am, this is where my day got all EF'd UP.

We find the building halfly shut, the aircons all on, the shutter door that cover's the main entrance partly open. Of course u'd think right? Oh someones in, getting the office ready and shet. So we knock, no one answers, we call and no one answers. So I told my mom, maybe they're out for break?? She was like, "Isn't it too early for break?"

So we wait a while, practically an hour. Some other people comes by to see wassup. We decided to go to the Treasury Office which was close by to ask if they know anything about the Passport Office and why it was still close. There was one lady in there workin, stated she was an admin, has no idea why the office still be close or how much the passport fee was. Another lady, a customer, was there tried to help us. She was like "I think they be part of the Attorney General's Office, you can check if they know what's going on." So we go take a drive there. There were some guys outside who asked if we needed help and told them what was going on, they were like "bet it's shut down too cause all the other offices here are, but the AG's is still open" So I was like asking if we could just ask anyone at the AG since they said the Passport Office was under them. I met this other dude from there and told him our problem. We just really wanted to know WTF was going in. I told  him how I can't seem to understand why THE UNITED STATES PASSPORT OFFICE  is part of the shut down cause isn't it a federal office?? He had no idea too -.-

So like my dad called up during all of this and told us to just go pay for the passport fee at the Court House. So we drove all the way down to Susupe from Capital Hill -.- YEH BALLIE GAS PAR! lol

There was already a notice up on their bulletin board about passport fees and procedures -.-
It kindly stated to have the Passport Office look into our documents and have them sign it or whatever before we came to pay the fees. We also found out how much it was which is 100+ depending on your age. So I told my mom, we couldn't even do anything there at the Court House even if we knew the fees. So we just decided to ask the clerk if she knew anything about why the passport office was closed, she was like "I don't know why they're closed, they should be under Federal, but you could check them again later."

X.X

It was practically lunch time, so we went ahead and bought some stuff for the car and grabbed some lunch. KEPT CALLING THE DAMN PASSPORT OFFICE and this is how it went:
RING- NO ANSWER
BUSY
RING-VOICEMAIL
RING-NO ANSWER
BUSY
RING-VOICEMAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS NO OTHER FREAKEN WAY FOR THAT DAMN LINE TO BE BUSY!

So we thought, hey maybe who ever is working there be comin half of the day. So since they open again at 1, we decided to head back up -.-
When we got there we saw a car outside the office, so I was like Yes, they're there!
But guess again......
Though a car was there and both shutter doors were partly open, and the aircon is still on, NO ONE WAS ANSWERING THE DAMN DOOR!
2 groups of people came by moments later for the same reason, but there was no use though, they had the same idea in mind. So my mom wanted to visit the Treasury Office again just to see if who ever should be in the Passport Office is chillen there. We met up with a new clerk, someone who clearly knows what she's doing compared to the first one and asked her what was up with the Passport Office. She was like "Is there a car outside, are the doors open?" and we described how the whole building looked. YES THERE'S A CAR OUTSIDE, BOTH SHUTTER DOORS ARE OPEN AND THE AIRCONS ARE ON BUT THERE IS NO ONE ANSWERING THE DOOR. So she was like "Hmm I don't know, maybe they'll come back in a few. You guys should call them, what number did you call?"

WHAT NUMBER DID I CALL????????? Shouldn't this chick know the damn number????!!!!!!
So she called them said no one's answering and said sorry, then she said why not just wait for them outside? -.- Reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllly?

Now I come from a family where we don't just back down without figuring out WTF is going on, and it seemed like the other family that was there was thinking the same way too. So we headed back to the office. 6 of us plus some kids making it look like a scene outside the Passport Office walking around the area checking if there was any sign of anyone inside. I mean there was a government car outside, there should be someone freaking in there. One mistake this person did was leave her ID in the car. Already aggravated, I was trying to figure out how to contact the person who uses the ride. I saw her name and where she worked, the Attorney General's Office.

Now I didn't mention previously, but while we were there, they told us that the Passport Office is not part of the AG Office. So what in the world was an AG office employee doing there. So I called the AG Office and ask if this person was in or if they know why she was at the Passport Office. The dude said he didn't know if she was in, he knew she was a local government employee so she shouldn't even be at work. He also didn't know why they Passport Office was close. Out of everyone today I found this dude to be the most helpful.

Now while I was on the phone with this guy from AG, some dude came by with a Frontier, so I thought FINALLY WHO EVER IS WORKING HERE IS HERE. But then he rolled down his windows asked us what we were waiting for and said "Yahll should just leave, this place is shut down too." So we were like "Well that's not what they said yesterday" then he goes, "Well no ones answering the door and that's really how they do it. They can't take the gov cars home so they just leave it here." REALLY? YOU THINK WE DAT STUPID? OK MAYBE THE CAR THING COULD BE A LIL BELIEVABLE BUT LEAVING THE AC ON? THE WHOLE DAY WHILE THE GOV IS IN DEBT WITH THE POWER SUPPLIER.

So this dude left after almost everyone who was there told him that they'll wait a lil more and see. He came back moments later with some people in a Kia Sedona. So then we were all like YES THEY ARE FINALLY HERE!!!

GUESS THE FUK AGAIN!

These peeps only came to ask us if the office was close, told us it was part of the shut down and I guess they thought one of us in the group could not recognize her. OFCOURSE WE WANT ANSWERS so one of the chicks from the other family was saying, I know her, she works here and they started busting out questions. Then the guy came to try to cut everyone off the conversation and another lady came out and started closing the shutters and was like sorry we're close. While no one confronted this chick my mom urge me to talk to her so I did.

I went "Mam, so yah'll really close?" and she was like "Yes I'm sorry"
Then I told how we called yesterday and whoever answered told us that they'd still stay open till Thursday. She then told me that they only said that cause they were guessing, that yesterday they did a friendly labor. They decided to go to work for free yesterday to help the customers until their boss told them the same day that they have to be part of the shut down. Then I told her, why the US PASSPORT OFFICE, ISN'T THIS A FEDERAL OFFICE? and she was like I'm sorry but you can take your complaint to the Governor. Then I asked, ok so for those who needs to renew their passport, where could we go. SHE TOLD ME TO GO TO GUAM.  GUAM.....
SO YOU'RE TELLING ME TO PAY 200+ TO GET A 100+ PASSPORT RENEWED
YOU'RE TELLING ME TO PAY 300+ TO RENEW A DAMN BOOK
awesome -.-

Later, the chick who owned the government car from the AG office finally got out had her head down and all she could say was sorry we're close while waving her hands for us to get lost O.O
THE FUK DUDE?!

Now I respect the 'working w/o no pay to help us thing', I really do. I sympathize 4 tha people  who lost their jobs in the government offices. I know what they goin' through and this really is the wrong time to loose jobs

BUT DO THIS SHET RIGHT:
-HAVE AN EXPLANATION FOR WHY AN OFFICE THAT COULD BE EASILY DESCRIBED AS A FEDERAL UNITED STATES OFFICE BE CLOSED TOO
-HAVE A COMPLETE DAMN LIST OF EVERY OFFICE AFFECTED IN THE NEWSPAPER
-DISCONNECT YAHLL PHONE LINES OR HAVE YAHLL VOICE MAIL STATING THAT YAHLL PART OF THE SHUT DOWN
-HAVE A NOTE UP SAYING YAHLL CLOSE!
-DON'T MAKE IT SOUND LIKE YAHLL DAMN SURE YOULL BE OPEN THE NEXT DAY.

DONT FUKN:
-HIDE IN THE DAMN BUILDING
-IGNORE EVERY FUKN PHONE CALL
-TALK TO US LIKE WE STUPID
-TALK TO US LIKE IT'S OUR FAULT OR SOMETHING

I have personally experienced the secrecy and trickery of the local government in one day.
This complaint is not to sound selfish, it is simply A WAKE UP CALL!
HAVE SOME COMMON SENSE!

WE ARE ALL AFFECTED HERE, the economy ain't straight yet but the least we can do is TO NOT ADD ANY MORE BULLSHIT TO THE PILE OF SHIT WE ALREADY GOT!

DEUCES!

Cell Phones Through The Ages

Woooow talkin bout changes...
I don't know why, but for some reason I just had an idea to start blogging about the whole list of cell phones I grew up having. Kind of a shocker when you look at how much technology and design throughout the years has changed, but it's fun too and sort of a cool inspiration. (I'll replace the current pictures of the phones I actually still have when I get the time ^-^)

So let's go on and start this list =p

The Motorola StarTAC was a family phone we got back in 96, surprisingly I still have the original one stored in my drawer plus a blue one we got from my mom's work making them about 15 years old and still working @.@ I only used this a few times in elementary to call my parents to pick me up and stuff since it wasn't allowed to really own one that time at my school.

My first cell phone, the Nokia 5165 (98-00).
My sister owned this first then me back in 98 when it came out, but it eventually became mine when she got the Nokia 3390. So since I was already in JR High, it was time for my own cellie. I loved this phone. I had a bunch of face plates for it and eventually got a full housing to replace the crappy original. Yup I got the one with the blinking antenna, blinking battery lights, custom back leds and I made my own transparent backgrounds for the screen. Sadly it died by freshmen year.

My second coolest cellphone, the Keyocera Slider (02-03).
By freshmen year I needed a phone bad. Everyone in school had one and heller it's like High School hahaha. So by the time my sister went to the states, she got me the Keyocera Slider which was completely new here on island. Though at the time mine was locked to Verizon, the picture above was the original color I got. I also had the MTV version until the phone company here screwed up the whole software and replaced it with the blue one that was pretty crappy. But that didn't stop me from using it. I loved it cause it was soo small and I pretty much was one of  the only few people in school who had one. Then the custom housings came out and I got one in clear blue with a cool graphic skin. I had alot of memories with this phone lol, the first time I messed it up was wen I left it in my bag and all of a sudden it rained pretty hard. So the phone got wet and died till dis one guy who really liked me offered to repair it =p. There was then that one night I came home super late, pissed my dad off to the max and he threw it to the wall. It didn't survived at all.

My third cellphone, downgraded from koolness, the Keyocera 3225 (04-05).
So after that whole incident, once again I had no cellphone, but it was pretty important to have one. It helped a lot with communicating with your parents about where to pick you up and stuff like that. I mean you know high school and all those after school activities. I forgot how I got this one, it was either from my dad or my mom, but it was used and old LOL. It sucked so bad cause the only way to charge it, was to charge it by the car charger. So every night when its low-batt I had to go to the car and hang out for 30-1hr -.- till it was done. Though it was still cool, as the picture shows, the side blinks and stuff as a notifier. You could change the different patterns and all =p

My fourth cellphone, "finna flip" the Motorola W375 (06-09).
Was getting tired of the stupid charging habit of the 3225, so when the W375 came out on sale at my local phone company, I just had to cop it. It was a birthday gift to myself and sign of change. By this time things in my life were getting better and I finna made up my mind to stand out instead of follow ^-^. So yes I got the orange colorway of the W375 just cause it looked pretty awesome and I was really into Japanese phones within those years. This was the closest thing to em.

My fifth cellphone, "My most loved/hated" the LG KS360 (09).
After graduating high school, I finna coped a full time job. At the same time I formed the first group of friends I could actually call my very own. So a lot of texting took place during this year cause we hanged out a lot. My W375 was starting to be a pain. Texting was getting harder due to the design of it's keypads, also I started to envy those with the qwerty keyboard phones. So I gave my mom my old W375 and bought my first LG. It was great when it lasted, till one stupid day in the movies. The ticket got caught up in between the slides, cut the ribbon that connected the screen and the the keyboard and killed it. I bought a replacement asap, but that didn't last long too -.- What an FML moment that was.

My back up phones, the Nokia 3360 and the Motorola E398 (09-10).
So with my KS360 down, I had to use the old phones we got hiding in the house. Thank goodness my mom brought home all those old cellphones from work LOL. These 2 didn't last with me that long, like only a few months. The Nokia 3360 needed a replacement battery, so we got a new one and tried to re-activate it but the phone company just asked if we wanted to trade it in for a new one but got a really tiny azz motorola as a replacement. My mom sold that one and my dad recently got his Iphone so I went ahead and used his E398 which wasn't so bad. The E398 was a pretty fun phone. It took vids, pics, played mp3s and blinked on the sides like the Keyocera 3325, just better hehe.

My sixth cellphone, "Current" The Nokia N97 Mini (10-).
Wow, what can I say about my current one. I went through a pretty crazy time when I was getting this. One day my dad went on a shopping spree on Ebay after he got his Iphone. He got my mom a new phone for her birthday then asked if I wanted one as well. So I said yeh but all I wanted was either the Sidekick or the Samsung Impression. He ended up getting me the 32GB N97, the first one that was pretty big, but it turned out to be a knock off -.- So we sent that back and I forced him to get me the Impression. He tricked me when this one came in. So my initial reaction was "Are you sure this ones the real deal this time?". Thank goodness for my researching skills, I had a real N97 (mini) which was nice cause it was smaller. I almost didn't last with this little guy cause the first day I had it with me I went out clubbing. I placed it in my pocket cause I didn't want it getting stolen. It seemed fine when I came home then the next morning it needed charging. After charging it the whole touchscreen stop responding for the whole day. Being so frustrated I packed it back up in the box. I told my dad about the problem, I was like "I can't believe Nokia, a high end phone and the screen is made so badly". I was ready to ship it back out that day till I came home from work. I took a deep breath, opened the box up again and tried to turn it on. I removed the SD card just in-case after reading tons of the same complaints and possible fixes on their websites from other owners. Then a big sigh of relief it was working fine. After all of that I never placed it in my pocket. I made sure the screen had no way of getting too much pressure on it. I wouldn't even let my friends touch it that much. Though it sucks u can't put this phone in your pocket o_o it's pretty awesome. 8GB internal memory, 5MP camera with flash, and it's a smart phone which though is useless down here cause they don't have my phone at my local phone company so I'm not that willing to have them try to enable my phone to their data connection. I guess I'll just wait till I move to the states to see the full potential of this phone =]

Well hope you enjoyed reading about my cell phones lol. I believe Ima keep this list goin. Wonder wats next after a few years. ^-^

Take care of your candies people. 50+ phones are still alotta money.
love,
Nix
