Low, Low, Low, Low, Low

There are a lot of things that I can't wait for when I finna reach LA.
There's my boyfriend, a whole new life to live, my very first place to live all to myself, my complete independence and the lifestyle.

Goin through Mayday Garage I stumbled upon a video created by SA Studios Global that features some sick-ass pretty lookin lowriders during the LA premier of the movie Machete. I can't name all the cars featured in this vid tho lol. I haven't studied that group of rides in my auto vocabulary but if I'm not mistaken, I have spotted a few Chevy Impalas (which I would love to own one day), a Lincoln Town Car and well I really can't tell what the rests are lol.

Machete LA Premiere at Orpheum Theatre from SA Studios Global on Vimeo.

But yeh, If  I was to have a chance to grab a classic, I would go for the sexy ass Cadillac Deville and yes I'd go for the Chevy Impala as well. Kinda sucks knowing that the 60's Impala looks sicker than the recent ones out there.

Beautiful Photography by Julia Wang

I really love just browsing through the web and finding something incredible.
I stumbled upon the work of Julia Wang at Abduzeedo. The first 2 images below caught my eyes and I was just struck in awe. The manipulations was just greatly done and the emotions portrayed are so strong, they clearly create stories.

Unbelievably, Julia is only 16 and has been in photography for about 2 years now. Though freshly discovered, her fan base has been successfully growing broadly and her work looks so professional that you may easily mistake them for a photographer who is well older.

"Ville"

"La Ciudad"

I admire her work so much because of the style she has mastered. It is the same style I've been wanting to practice and hopefully soon conquer when I get my own DSLR.

"Feet On The Ground"

You could almost write a whole novel based on just one of her pictures. As described on her "About Me" pages, her styles consists of Life, Bokeh, Surrealism and Soft Lights which really shows on every picture she takes.

"Love"

A true fave of many and mine as well is her "Love" image which is not a manipulation. She actually creatively worked on this piece completely by hand, a tedious process that I believe took her a while. But this image goes to show how much dedication she has for her talent which you may read about when you click on the image above.

"Dragons"

Another beautiful example of her work and talents, as suggested in the title you can clearly see the smoke dragon on the girls cupped hands. The emotion and beauty of this picture is amazing. The lighting gives it a perfect composition and yet another story can be influenced to be created.

You can see more of Julia's amazing work on her web pages:

More Flowers, Yess Yess ^-^

Flowers for some reason are always the best subjects to study with. I love the challenges you get when taking pictures of flowers. Just like human portraits, you're challenged with a moving subject, something that you need to creatively find a perfect angle to make the picture "out of the ordinary" and to study if there might be too much of them or too little. The great thing about flowers though is the fact that they're always beautiful and that they portray soo much into a picture.

Some flowers may make you wonder or bring out your imagination, such as the one above. At first look I thought straight away, "jellyfish".

A great photo to explain what I meant about angling. This side of the cove had a lot of these purple flowers called the Beach Morning Glories. This specific batch was growing on a steep slope, so steep that if I leaned any closer, I'd fall in the water lol. If you angled your camera in a certain way, ex. above this particular pair,
in front or behind, you wouldn't get such a great result and with an auto focus option on a point-and-shoot camera, it's pretty tricky to capture that clear shot. So with a bit of stretching and imagination and with a lil luck, you'll get that perfect shot.

Another thing about flowers are their bright colors and dramatic personalities. I believe this is a particular type of species in the Orchids family. This was really interesting for me to find though, cause they grew out of a pot. their dark brown spots in the center makes me think of a leopard, don't you think so?

A great example of imagination. This flower as many are familiar to, does not grow alone or in a patch of grass. I found one of the flowers I had used on a previous shoot, where we placed these on top of my car and took pictures of it while being surrounded by dew drops. It was still in perfect condition, then I saw a nice patch of grass in front of my car where the morning sun was casting a spotlight. The result is a pretty awesome looking composition =].

And see, even when flowers are at their dying phase, they give out a beautiful atmosphere of emotion.

I hope you guys enjoyed the collection =]
More to come!
Love,
Nix

One Day YOU WILL BE MINE.....

"1:33 Edition"

When I was younger, my family and I would go to our local car shows. We'd walk around the whole lot to see every customized ride the people who participated had to show off. For some reason, I grew to fall in love with cars. Their colors, design, shapes sizes and everything you could possibly do to it was extremely amazing. My first favorite ever was the 98 Honda Civic Hatchback. I loved it cause it was tiny and at the same time for some reason aggressive. I followed this car around in my dreams for a long while, then one day I was watching TV and saw this beauty.

"Snakeskin Green ACR"

The first Dodge Viper I saw was the 01 version. It was sooo freaken sexy and that was all I could think about. I had pictures of the Viper in my binder and on my walls, backgrounds for my pages and a miniature model. It became THE CAR OF MY DREAMS.

"NAAAR NAAAR NAAAR NA NAAR"

My goals were set, I'd do anything (not everything) to get this ride. I ain't getting it cause of the 600 horsepower V10 engine under the hood, cause it goes 0-60 in less than 4 seconds, or cause it's a monster on the track, I wanna get it cause of the pure beauty of this ride. I wanna get it to satisfy my deep desire. I mean have you ever felt that deep wanting "I JUST GOTTA HAVE IT!" crazy feeling you get in your chest + butterflies? That's what I get when I see and hear this car. Pure power, pure design, no matter the faults it's had, I love this ride tah def!

"SRT-10 ACR-X"

I was sad to know that they stopped production for the whole Viper line, but I'm not completely bothered by it. There is still a bunch out there, new and used waiting fore me =] and knowing that the price dropped 100,000 to 90,000+ and below, I'm pretty happy.
It's one of my greatest goals that constantly pushes myself to be the best I can be. ^-^

" 1 Fast A$$ MO FO"

"I wouldn't mind being an automotive photographer, but do yah'll see that spot where they hang out at the center of the track?! EFFING SCARY!

Landscapes, Waterscapes and Skies

The best thing about living on an island are the landscapes, waterscapes and skies you get. Here in Saipan we get some pretty awesome combination of all three factors. I did a lot of landscape photography just as a hobby, and pretty much it still is, but my favorite things to capture were anything concerning with the sky. I love sunsets and cloudy like days where light rays will come through and create a dramatic appearance in the sky. I love the puffy and broken down clouds through double weather days where shapes can be easily formed and named.

I believe that by evening, it's the best time to unwind. Your out of school/work, dinner is freshly just around the corner, a small bar might just be ready to release you from a hard days work and the sheets are just ready to embrace you.

So it's really enjoyable to capture that one time of the day where all is calm. It's the best thing that I can compare to living in the moment. The best parts of life is that one lil glimpse or those few moments of happiness and security. Just like a sunset. Such beauty to disappear into a memory after a few minutes.

^This was taken at my place around late 5pm. I wish I got the chance to capture the whole set but this one cloud gave me that imaginative feel. If you look at the darker part near the power pole, you'll notice a head with it's mouth wide open and lil arms reaching out, then on the lower left hand corner, a yacht. >.< I guess this monster was either tynuh eat it or saying "Stay back!" lol.

^A beautiful sunset captured north of the island. This is what I call a 2 weather day because in this picture there is an absolute clear blue sky and rain all at the same time. We have a lot of them here, but they make incredible pictures. This was all taken by my cellphone too and edited a bit in Photoshop =].

^My first sunset shot in ages. This was months ago when I finally got back into photography. The orange tone is created by a setting in my camera that's created specifically for sunset shots. I'm still pretty amazed with how well my camera takes images ^-^ especially that it's only a point-and-shoot. I love calm water and low tides. They almost blend into the sand foreground and just makes it seem like people are walking above it =].

^My first sunset at a different angle without the special setting on the camera. The position of the sun gives hint of the time of day, this is roughly about 30 minutes before sundown. I love how the clouds just gave it the dramatic look I'm always into and having the cargo ship (to the left) in the frame was a major plus.

^A beautiful sunset before a great down pour. The whole months I've got to capture these images was a pretty rainy season, but like I've mentioned, those huge clouds always creates a beautiful sunset. I love this because of the colors I've captured. Wish I had the chance to do a whole panorama that day, could have been killer.

I'm excited to do more of these hehehe.
Maybe if my weekend ends up being clear of
portrait shoots, I'll be able to just drive around
and shoot some scenery ^-^

Hope you loved the photos!

Ooooooo O.O

Oh man Oh man, there is a pretty long list of rides I would seriously love to own and all dem sports car are sure to take up a lot of them. The Mazda RX-7 or the FD3S for JDM rightfully takes a spot in my list of sports I'd love to seriously own. Anything tuner makes me giggle with happiness like a kid in a candy store. Searching through Speedhunters I literally tripped on this post. Like the title above, I had my eyes swung wide open and my mouth dropping hard to the flo.

My first time seeing the RX-7 in real life was at one of our small car shows. This baby I believe was shipped out straight from Guam just to make it's appearance here in Saipan. It was bone stock though, candy red, just sitting there teasing everyone passing by it that caught it's attention. I stood a long good 30 minutes there looking at it, grinding my teeth cause I knew I couldn't afford to own one. Now being older, It's a pretty good dang feeling to know that I can. just suckish that we don't have them available here and shipping makes it's worth a face plant to the ground.

Now it may look like a dinosaur or something an everyday chick wouldn't get, but that's just it. I ain't no everyday chick, I love cars like I love art. I appreciate the design and effort their builders put in them and I totally respect those who upgrades them to their full potential.

The way this ones built is almost the same way I'd love mine (if ever i end up copping one), to look. With a different paint job though, it'll be perfect =p.

Yum Yum Yum.

Cell Phones Through The Ages

Woooow talkin bout changes...
I don't know why, but for some reason I just had an idea to start blogging about the whole list of cell phones I grew up having. Kind of a shocker when you look at how much technology and design throughout the years has changed, but it's fun too and sort of a cool inspiration. (I'll replace the current pictures of the phones I actually still have when I get the time ^-^)

So let's go on and start this list =p

The Motorola StarTAC was a family phone we got back in 96, surprisingly I still have the original one stored in my drawer plus a blue one we got from my mom's work making them about 15 years old and still working @.@ I only used this a few times in elementary to call my parents to pick me up and stuff since it wasn't allowed to really own one that time at my school.

My first cell phone, the Nokia 5165 (98-00).
My sister owned this first then me back in 98 when it came out, but it eventually became mine when she got the Nokia 3390. So since I was already in JR High, it was time for my own cellie. I loved this phone. I had a bunch of face plates for it and eventually got a full housing to replace the crappy original. Yup I got the one with the blinking antenna, blinking battery lights, custom back leds and I made my own transparent backgrounds for the screen. Sadly it died by freshmen year.

My second coolest cellphone, the Keyocera Slider (02-03).
By freshmen year I needed a phone bad. Everyone in school had one and heller it's like High School hahaha. So by the time my sister went to the states, she got me the Keyocera Slider which was completely new here on island. Though at the time mine was locked to Verizon, the picture above was the original color I got. I also had the MTV version until the phone company here screwed up the whole software and replaced it with the blue one that was pretty crappy. But that didn't stop me from using it. I loved it cause it was soo small and I pretty much was one of  the only few people in school who had one. Then the custom housings came out and I got one in clear blue with a cool graphic skin. I had alot of memories with this phone lol, the first time I messed it up was wen I left it in my bag and all of a sudden it rained pretty hard. So the phone got wet and died till dis one guy who really liked me offered to repair it =p. There was then that one night I came home super late, pissed my dad off to the max and he threw it to the wall. It didn't survived at all.

My third cellphone, downgraded from koolness, the Keyocera 3225 (04-05).
So after that whole incident, once again I had no cellphone, but it was pretty important to have one. It helped a lot with communicating with your parents about where to pick you up and stuff like that. I mean you know high school and all those after school activities. I forgot how I got this one, it was either from my dad or my mom, but it was used and old LOL. It sucked so bad cause the only way to charge it, was to charge it by the car charger. So every night when its low-batt I had to go to the car and hang out for 30-1hr -.- till it was done. Though it was still cool, as the picture shows, the side blinks and stuff as a notifier. You could change the different patterns and all =p

My fourth cellphone, "finna flip" the Motorola W375 (06-09).
Was getting tired of the stupid charging habit of the 3225, so when the W375 came out on sale at my local phone company, I just had to cop it. It was a birthday gift to myself and sign of change. By this time things in my life were getting better and I finna made up my mind to stand out instead of follow ^-^. So yes I got the orange colorway of the W375 just cause it looked pretty awesome and I was really into Japanese phones within those years. This was the closest thing to em.

My fifth cellphone, "My most loved/hated" the LG KS360 (09).
After graduating high school, I finna coped a full time job. At the same time I formed the first group of friends I could actually call my very own. So a lot of texting took place during this year cause we hanged out a lot. My W375 was starting to be a pain. Texting was getting harder due to the design of it's keypads, also I started to envy those with the qwerty keyboard phones. So I gave my mom my old W375 and bought my first LG. It was great when it lasted, till one stupid day in the movies. The ticket got caught up in between the slides, cut the ribbon that connected the screen and the the keyboard and killed it. I bought a replacement asap, but that didn't last long too -.- What an FML moment that was.

My back up phones, the Nokia 3360 and the Motorola E398 (09-10).
So with my KS360 down, I had to use the old phones we got hiding in the house. Thank goodness my mom brought home all those old cellphones from work LOL. These 2 didn't last with me that long, like only a few months. The Nokia 3360 needed a replacement battery, so we got a new one and tried to re-activate it but the phone company just asked if we wanted to trade it in for a new one but got a really tiny azz motorola as a replacement. My mom sold that one and my dad recently got his Iphone so I went ahead and used his E398 which wasn't so bad. The E398 was a pretty fun phone. It took vids, pics, played mp3s and blinked on the sides like the Keyocera 3325, just better hehe.

My sixth cellphone, "Current" The Nokia N97 Mini (10-).
Wow, what can I say about my current one. I went through a pretty crazy time when I was getting this. One day my dad went on a shopping spree on Ebay after he got his Iphone. He got my mom a new phone for her birthday then asked if I wanted one as well. So I said yeh but all I wanted was either the Sidekick or the Samsung Impression. He ended up getting me the 32GB N97, the first one that was pretty big, but it turned out to be a knock off -.- So we sent that back and I forced him to get me the Impression. He tricked me when this one came in. So my initial reaction was "Are you sure this ones the real deal this time?". Thank goodness for my researching skills, I had a real N97 (mini) which was nice cause it was smaller. I almost didn't last with this little guy cause the first day I had it with me I went out clubbing. I placed it in my pocket cause I didn't want it getting stolen. It seemed fine when I came home then the next morning it needed charging. After charging it the whole touchscreen stop responding for the whole day. Being so frustrated I packed it back up in the box. I told my dad about the problem, I was like "I can't believe Nokia, a high end phone and the screen is made so badly". I was ready to ship it back out that day till I came home from work. I took a deep breath, opened the box up again and tried to turn it on. I removed the SD card just in-case after reading tons of the same complaints and possible fixes on their websites from other owners. Then a big sigh of relief it was working fine. After all of that I never placed it in my pocket. I made sure the screen had no way of getting too much pressure on it. I wouldn't even let my friends touch it that much. Though it sucks u can't put this phone in your pocket o_o it's pretty awesome. 8GB internal memory, 5MP camera with flash, and it's a smart phone which though is useless down here cause they don't have my phone at my local phone company so I'm not that willing to have them try to enable my phone to their data connection. I guess I'll just wait till I move to the states to see the full potential of this phone =]

Well hope you enjoyed reading about my cell phones lol. I believe Ima keep this list goin. Wonder wats next after a few years. ^-^

Take care of your candies people. 50+ phones are still alotta money.
love,
Nix
